Blackstone Bay Camping Area Improvements

Join us at Blackstone Bay to work on the 17 Mile camping area. This multi-year project has helped support the Forest Service in establishing world-class camping areas in the beautiful Blackstone Bay. This area is revered for its concentration of tidewater glaciers, glacial streams, and wildlife viewing. This project continues to service 17 Mile, which has professionally hardened tent pads, two bear boxes, and an outhouse. Volunteers will be led by Forest Service staff. 

Please note:

• Volunteers must be 18 years or older.

• Participants will work under a volunteer agreement with the Chugach National Forest and will be provided all tools, materials, and personal protective equipment. Safety training will be provided.

• Food and personal camping gear are not provided. Some group gear is provided.

• A $125 non-refundable registration fee per person is required to reserve your spot.
