About The Event

Would you like to add a little citizen science to your experience of the Sound?

We are helping the Chugach National Forest gather data on site conditions and visitor trends in Harriman Fiord.  This is part of a long-term monitoring project that helps the Forest Service understand conditions in the Wilderness Study Area of western Prince William Sound.

  • Participants are asked to visit one or more sites to record information using an app downloaded onto their phone or tablet. Each site visit takes approximately 1 hour.
  • A short training will be available on our website or provided in person by the Forest Service in Whittier or Girdwood.
  • Due to COVID-19, the Forest Service will not be able to offer transportation to PWS for this program in 2020.
