Up to four volunteers are needed to spend a few hours per day pulling invasive dandelions from beaches in Hobo Bay, on the west shore of Port Wells, June 22-25. We also ask that volunteers walk the nearby historic Granite Mine trail and conduct a 4-hour solitude monitoring survey. Materials and instructions will be provided; please bring a cell phone/mobile device and back-up battery charger.
- Roundtrip transportation will be provided by water taxi for volunteers. We invite volunteers of all ages.
- Food and camping gear are not provided.
- Tools and instructions for weed removal are provided.
- A $75 non-refundable registration fee per person is required to reserve your spot.
- You are welcome to bring one kayak per person aboard the water taxi. Water is accessible at the head of Hobo Bay with a kayak; otherwise, pack in your own water.
Trip Difficulty: Easy - Volunteers must be able to walk on gentle slopes, pebbled beach, and grassy areas. Volunteers will carry their gear less than a quarter mile from drop off to camp site. Volunteers must be comfortable with typical gardening movements of bending, squatting, and using hand tools to pull weeds.
Volunteers are welcome to arrive by their own vessel. If doing so, please email info@princewilliamsound.org. This registration includes water taxi transportation.
