If you like a bit of a challenge, this is an amazing opportunity to spend time at the beautiful and remote Shrode Lake. Volunteers will be dropped off with a Forest Service crew at Long Bay and will backpack with personal gear and group items to Shrode Lake cabin (1 mile), where volunteers will stay 3 nights for free. Crews will focus on brushing and clearing vegetation between the cabin and Three Finger Cove. This involves lopping, brushing, hand-sawing, and/or using a polaski to clear the trail. Volunteers are encouraged to use tools that are most compatibale with their ability and comfort level.
Volunteers are welcome bring pack rafts to explore Shrode Lake or use the jon boat near the cabin.
Please note:
Two Chugach National Forest employees will lead this work project.
