About The Event

Up to 3 volunteers needed to perform light trail and cabin maintenance at between Three Finger Cove and the Shrode Lake Cabin.

  • Two Chugach National Forest employees will lead this work project.
  • Participants will work under volunteer agreement with the Chugach National Forest and be provided all tools, materials, and personal protective equipment. Safety training will be provided.
  • The group will have FS vessel transport to/from Long Bay and three nights free at the cabin.
  • Volunteers will use Pulaskis, loppers, and other handtools to clear salmonberry, ferns, and similar brush from the Shrode Lake Trail corridor. They will also perform a survey of trail conditions.
  • Food and camping gear are not provided.
  • A nonrefundable $75 registration fee is required to reserve your spot.

Trip Difficulty: Difficult- Do you like Type 2 fun? This is 100% the trip for you! You'll hike along uneven surfaces, remove brush, and other light to moderate activity. Accessing the cabin involves a hike in on an unmaintained trail while carrying your own gear and food, plus trail maintenance equipment.
